Hi! I can’t remember exactly as it’s been a few years, but I had space to store a medium size suitcase under there and a small plastic box :)

Hey! I took a risk and used white tack. I mostly stuck to the wooden door and other stuff that wouldn't stain, so I recommend doing that! You also get a noticeboard, so bring some pins for photos, etc, as they sold out everywhere the week I moved in!

Hello! The beds are standard single size ✨ Wilko in the city centre is a great shop for all sorts, sells lots of home things (e.g. pillows, bedding, kitchenware etc). The big Tesco’s (a superstore near Talybont) sells pretty much anything you could need, including food. Hi, the English Department is good, although due to covid-19 my only interactions have been via zoom. I've enjoyed the course and really like the city/university. So would recommend it :)

Hi! I only ever visited Talybont court & it was pretty similar to south (just bigger rooms & areas) but still social. Everyone seemed up for making friends etc! Gate is further away and I heard it wasn’t as social, but I’m not entirely sure (so I would ask around) xx

In an academic sense, the teaching in Durham is really good but definitely a step up from what I'm used to. That could also be put down to it being an MA. There is more emphasis on self-study/personal research. I really enjoyed the teaching at Cardiff, but am also happy to be challenged in my new modules. My general experience so far has been more positive than at Cardiff. Unfortunately, I had pretty rough 2nd and 3rd years at Cardiff due to personal issues which made it difficult to enjoy. I think both places are great universities, but for different reasons :)

Yes! I really enjoyed the English Lit course & would recommend doing it jointly with Creative writing only if that appeals to you (as I loved that part of it)! Good modules, good lecturers etc xx

I did struggle with being at Cardiff in my second and third year, but that had nothing to do with the university itself. So I think Cardiff was my best option with my grades at the time. It's a great city and really enjoyed my course! With regards to accommodation, Talybont South was the right decision as I made some great friends from living there :)

J Hi! Congratulations ☺️ the accommodation is good & has everything you need, including en-suite bathrooms.The whole building works on electronic key cards. So you can lock your door 😁

Heaven Trya hey! I just used white-tack. You aren’t supposed to, but everyone did. I was super careful that it didn’t ruin the walls & put a lot of it on the wooden doors etc (that doesn’t stain), so it just depends on how you feel! No one I knew had any issues with it! Xx

Ss Oops For last year, it was £360 a month for each of us (bills included), there were 8 of us in total. So £2880 a month for the house. We had to pay full price for Sept - June. Half price July - August.

There are cheaper houses out there, it really depends on your budget. I don't know how cheap, but worth having a look at lots of options :) In comparison to lots of other cities its quite a bit cheaper. I have friends at other universities having to pay £500 a month, so Cardiff is pretty good for accomodation :)

Hi, sorry only just seen this! It depends on your course and each lecturer. I think they are trying to change this and ensure that everything is recorded, but it’s not guaranteed.

YD x I know a few people who don’t! And in first year, I really didn’t go out loads so I understand the worry. But you will totally make friends, whether in lectures, societies etc. Make sure to join in with non-drinking events and be confident in asking people if they want to hang out! But also, if you feel comfortable, you could always go to pres and not drink? I sometimes did if I didn’t want to go out to clubs but wanted to socialise! People are so friendly and in first year, everyone wants to make friends so I wouldn’t worry!! Xx
